Math toolbox
Concept
The idea behind a “math toolbox” was to put together boxes of various materials that make it possible to create mathematical activities that are both playful and open to investigation, in several areas linked to the school curriculum.
The main aim is simply to enjoy “playing” with mathematics through hands-on manipulation: it is a way into a scientific, investigative approach.
The contents of each box make it possible to carry out one or more activities.
Some activity suggestions are deliberately brief and offer neither solutions nor a precise method to follow: we would like teachers to take part in the activity themselves and to explore alongside their pupils, so as not to impose one particular approach.
In this way, the toolbox is a means of doing mathematics differently from worksheets: giving some pupils another way into the subject.

You can book one or more workshops, aimed either at pupils or at teachers, led by an FSJM member. Alternatively, one or more boxes from the toolbox can also be borrowed.
